There are two major components to every Payroll Report.

Wage+

Withholding

On the Remodel Health platform, your company will pay its employees a salary and a Wage+ (wage increase) using taxable dollars.

Wage+ (wage plus) is the term used for the extra wages given in lieu of offering group health benefits. Employees can use this additional wage to purchase their own individual health plan.

Remodel Health recommends keeping employee salary and Wage+ as separate line items on their paychecks so there is a clear distinction between pay and the employer’s contribution toward health insurance.

With Remodel Health, a member can elect to have their chosen healthcare plan costs deducted from their pay on a post-tax or after-tax basis by their employer. This is called their Withholding.

Remodel Health will pay for the individual health plans on behalf of the employee and gather the funds from the employer. This is a separate line item from their Wage+ since the funds are being withheld after taxes are taken out, versus the Wage+ being contributed before taxes are taken out.

Our Wage+ model allows organizations to provide supplemental wages to employees as a way to offset the costs of their individual health plans. In order to make this process as seamless as possible, payroll information is efficiently delivered through our Remodel Health software platform.

Each month, you will receive an email inviting you to log in to the platform and access your monthly payroll report. This secure and encrypted access will provide a high level of information in a simple dashboard!

A few things to keep in mind...

• A wage increase is a taxable wage (similar to salary), not a fringe benefit.

• For ADP users, Wage+ is categorized under Miscellaneous Income.

• We recommend keeping the Wage+ as a separate line item from income so it is easy to differentiate from regular pay on paychecks.

• Withholdings are a post-tax deduction, similar to life insurance or charitable contributions.

• For ADP users, Withholdings are categorized under Earning Deductions: Misc 2.

• Employers are not required to report Withholdings on a W-2. If you want to use them as a tax write-off, they could go under Box 14 (Other Info box). They would NOT go under Box 12 DD, which is for group insurance.
