Enrollment Steps
Introduction to Your ICHRA+ Plan
What is an ICHRA?
ICHRA stands for Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement. It’s a flexible, employer-funded benefit that allows your employer to offer you a tax-free monthly contribution toward the total premium cost of an individual health insurance plan that you choose.
How Does it Work?
Instead of offering a traditional group health plan, your employer is providing you with a monthly contribution to apply toward an individual health insurance plan that best fits your needs. After you select a plan through the Remodel Health platform, our team will submit your application directly to the insurance carrier on your behalf. Once your plan is approved, we’ll make payment toward your premium on your behalf and finalize your enrollment.
Factors that Determine Your Cost
When you enter your household information into the secure Remodel Health platform, it will automatically calculate the monthly contribution amount provided by your employer. Once that amount is determined, it will be factored into the plan prices shown during your shopping experience—so you’ll see the actual cost to you after your employer's contribution is applied.
Benefits of ICHRA
Guaranteed Issue: You cannot be denied coverage based on pre-existing conditions, including health status, age, or income. Stable Pricing: Your health history won’t impact the cost of your plan. More Choice: You get the freedom to choose the plan that works best for you and your family. Employer Contribution: Contributions from your employer are tax-free and lower the total cost of your premium, keeping more money in your pocket.

How does ICHRA work with Medicare?
Your employer is offering you an individual coverage
health reimbursement arrangement (ICHRA) with
Remodel Health. As someone with Medicare coverage or
who is eligible for Medicare, you need to understand how
the two benefits interact.
Medicare is compatible with your new ICHRA benefit. Medicare Parts A and B together and Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, qualify as individual coverage, a requirement for the ICHRA.
Medicare Enrollment & Reimbursement
Employees age 65 and older are eligible to join Medicare and receive a reimbursement toward their Medicare premium.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) is a new way your employer helps you pay for health insurance. Instead of one company-wide group health plan, your employer gives you a set monthly contribution to put toward an individual health plan that you choose for yourself (and your family, if applicable).
- With a Group plan: All participating employees enroll in the same employer-sponsored policy.
- With an ICHRA: You choose your own plan from the options available in your area. Your employer provides you with a monthly contribution toward your premium. With an ICHRA, your employer is able to offer you more choice and flexibility.
You’ll see major insurance carriers available in your local area. The exact carriers and plans depend on your ZIP code. After you create your Remodel Health account and enter in your personal information, you will be able to view the specific carriers available to you.
- Costs vary depending on the plan you pick.
- Your employer’s contribution helps lower the amount you pay.
- When you log into your Remodel Health account during enrollment, you’ll see:
- The total plan cost
- Your employer's contribution
- Your monthly responsibility
Your total plan cost equals the total plan cost minus your employer's contribution. Remodel Health pays the full premium upfront, and your portion is deducted from your paycheck automatically.
You’ll see your options once enrollment opens in the Remodel Health platform.
- Key dates, such as education and the enrollment timeframe, will be shared with you in advance.
- You’ll also receive reminders regarding these key dates along the way.
Yes, you can choose:
- Just Yourself
- You + Spouse
- You + Dependents
- You + Spouse + Dependents
It depends on the plan you choose. Before selecting a plan, you should:
- Verify your doctors and prescriptions are in-network with a plan you are considering directly within your Remodel Health account while you are shopping for a plan.
- Call your doctor’s office to confirm whether they accept the specific individual plan you’re considering.
Carriers determine which plans are offered in your area. You may have a variety of
choices, including:
- HMO: Lower cost, network-based (must use in-network doctors)
- EPO: Midpoint—coverage for in-network providers, no referrals required to see specialists
- PPO: More flexibility to see in- and out-of-network providers
You can pick whichever option best fits your needs and budget.
No—With an ICHRA model, you’ll experience real advantages that make your coverage both flexible and reliable:
- Stable pricing. Your health history or pre-existing conditions will never impact the cost of your plan.
- More choice. You get the freedom to choose the plan that works best for you and your family’s unique needs.
- Employer contributions. Contributions from your employer are tax-free and directly lower the total cost of your premium, keeping more money in your pocket.
Yes. Plans are ACA-compliant, meaning they include:
- Doctor visits
- Hospital care
- Prescription coverage
- Preventive services
- Mental health services
- And more
The difference is you choose the plan that works best for you and your family—rather than everyone being placed in one group plan.
All preventative care services are covered at 100% under your individual health plan. By utilizing these services, you can maintain your well-being and avoid more costly treatments down the road.
Preventative care includes medical services that help prevent illnesses or detect health issues at an early stage when they are often easier and less costly to treat. These services are designed to keep you healthy and identify potential health problems before they become serious.
Most individual health plans must cover preventative care services at 100%. Note that these services are only free when delivered by a provider in your plan's network.
As a member of Remodel Health, even though you have an individual health plan, we help your employer deduct the monthly cost of your health benefits from your pay. We then take care of paying your monthly premium on your behalf.
Throughout the year, it's likely that you will continue to receive a monthly premium bill in the mail each month from your carrier or program. Don't worry - Remodel Health will handle the payment and send you a confirmation once this bill has been paid.
If you see anything unusual on your monthly bill or see a past-due amount, please reach out to our team at care@remodelhealth.com.
